Weekly Commentary 5/14/12

The markets mostly declined on Friday as shares ofU.S.banks slumped after J.P. Morgan Chase said it lost billions on bad trades. Gains in technology shares and increased consumer sentiment attempted to outweigh the bank losses. The Thompson Reuters/University ofMichiganpreliminary index of consumer sentiment advanced in April to its highest reading since January 2008. For the week, the Dow fell 1.50 percent to close at 12,820.60. The S&P dropped 1.06 percent to finish at 1,353.39 and the NASDAQ lost 0.76 percent to end the week at 2,933.82. Read More
